BSEC-URTA Raises Awareness of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey about vital Problems of Transportation Industry

Coordination Meeting between Institutions Represented in Specialized Groups in 2018 Black Sea Economic Cooperation Calendar was held on 22 February 2018 in Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey in Ankara. The BSEC-URTA President, Ms. Aslı Gözütok, took an active part in the meeting.

Among other items the Agenda included Strategy of Facilitating of Trade and Transport of Goods in the BSEC Region:
- Turkey-Ukraine eTIR Pilot Project/Intermodal and Container Transportation
- Extensification of usage of BSEC Transit Permits for road transport
- Facilitation of visa presedures for professional TIR drivers among BSEC States
- Activation of the road transportation of goods and border crossing procedures on China-Silk Road trade route, especially on the way junctions points on Middle (Caspian) corridor.

The main conclusions of the meeting held under the patronage of Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are as follows:
- Ministry of Transport of Turkey declared the necessary support for liberalisation of road transport in BSEC region.
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey will carry out a study to seek the possibilities to bring a technical solution if professional road drivers could have special status like members of air and maritime crew.
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey will seek the possibilities for further promotion of digital corridors and interoperable single window concepts in order to facilitate trade  and cost efficient and  rapid solutions for road transport industry.
- BSEC-URTA/TOBB asked Turkish leadership for raising awareness of other BSEC Member States about the significant importance of the region for Belt and Road initiative, where the middle corridor will provide faster and efficient multimodal solutions for the movement of the goods between east and west.
