BSEC-URTA Management Council met in Istanbul on 1 February 2007 to review objectives of the Organisation and set the priorities for 2007.
The meeting was chaired by newly elected BSEC-URTA President Mr. Vladimir Florea and attended by BSEC-URTA Vice-Presidents Mr. Gia Tsipura and Mr. Dimitrios Dotzios, BSEC-URTA Honorary President Mr. Cetin Nuhoglu and the BSEC-URTA Secretary General Mr. Haydar Φzkan.
The Council agreed on the following priorities:
- ensure successful launch of the BSEC Steering Committee on Road Goods Transport Facilitation,
- develop further the cooperation with transport related BSEC NGOs,
- in parallel with guidance of the General Assembly, work for creation of a possible BSEC-URTA Joint Venture Company.
The Management Council also agreed that the following areas of road transport facilitation will be critical for follow up in 2007:
- Finalisation of the BSEC Visa Agreement: AITA will host the next Visa Experts Meeting in Chisinau in March 2007, where the draft BSEC Agreement will be reviewed.
- Creation of a BSEC Regional Quota System: The Council agreed that BSEC-URTA should intensify its efforts to convince the BSEC organs on the importance and urgent need for creation of such a regional quota system.
- Implementation of an International Vehicle Weight Certificate: The Council agreed that any time delay in realisation of this objective costs significant money to the industry every day. In this context, the Council decided that AITA should present the structure, rules and application of the CIS Vehicle Weight Certificate, as a living best practice, at the next meeting of the General Assembly, in detail.
