| BSEC-URTA congratulates the new elected IRU leadership for 2010-2011 | 06 November 2009 | In Geneva, on 06 November 2009, the IRU General Assembly elected its leadership for the term of office 2010-2011.
As President of IRU, was reelected Mr. Janusz Lacny. The BSEC-URTA International Secretariat congratulates Mr. Lacny on the IRU achievements under his leadership and wishes him much success in this new term of office.
The new leadership of the IRU, with effect as of 1 January 2010 is as follows:

| IRU Events, Geneva, 28-31 October 2008 | 21 October 2008 | The International Road Transport Union is going to hold a number of events during 28-31 October 2008 in Geneva, where delegations from BSEC-URTA Associations as well as the representatives of the BSEC-URTA International Secretariat are going to participate.
A special joint meeting between the BSEC-URTA and the IRU Liaison Committee with CIS is going to take place on 28 October 2008, which is going to be devoted to the AETR Agreement. The IRU Good Transport Council Meeting is going to be held on 30 October 2008, and the autumn IRU meetings will end up with the General Assembly Meeting IRU on 31 October 2008.

| BSEC-URTA congratulates the new elected IRU leadership for 2008-2009 | 16.11.2007 | In Geneva, on 9 November 2007, the IRU General Assembly elected its leadership for the term of office: 2008-2009.
As President of IRU, was elected Mr. Janusz Lacny, currently IRU Vice President and Secretary General of the Association of International Road Transport Operators in Poland (ZMPD).
Mr Lacny succeeds Mr. Paul Laeremans, who started the first of three terms as IRU President in 2002.
The BSEC-URTA International Secretariat congratulates Mr. Laeremans on the IRU achievements under 6 years of his leadership and wishes him much success in his future activities.

| IRU Secretary General nominated Doctor H.C. of the Moscow State Technical University | 19.12.2005 | During the 75th Anniversary of MADI, IRU Secretary General, Martin Marmy, received an honorary degree of Doctor Honoris Causa for his personal contribution to the development of the road transport industry and excellence in vocational training.
The nomination took place in the Kremlin Palace of Congresses, Moscow, in the presence of representatives of the Federal Council and the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the Transport Ministry, Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Health and Social Development, the Governments of Moscow City, Moscow region and Saint Petersburg, the International Road Transport Carriers Association of Russia (ASMAP), the Transport Academy of the Russian Federation, the Moscow Road Education Center and over 5000 guests.

| Meetings: IRU General Assembly held its Meeting in Geneva | 07.11.2005 | The Meeting of the IRU General Assembly was held in Geneva on 4 November 2005. At the Meeting, the General Assembly praised the Statement adopted by the Euro-Asian Transport Ministerial Meeting which, in an unprecedented way, recognised the vital role of road transport in driving economic prosperity and social progress in Asia and Europe.
The IRU Presidential Executive awarded its prestigious Diplôme d’honneur to 703 drivers from 22 countries for their excellent driving and safety records. Also, CIS road transport companies were rewarded by the IRU for their implementation of best practices in favour of road safety and sustainable development.

| IRU Academy Seminar on Professional Driver Training | 03.10.2005 | On 29 & 30 September 2005, the IRU Academy staged the IRU Academy Seminar on Professional Driver Training and the Implementation of EC/2003/59. This Seminar was organized in partnership with IRU Turkish Member Associations UND and UATOD, attracting over 160 Delegates from Europe and Asia from more than 30 countries.

| Events: 3rd IRU Euro-Asian Road Transport Conference in Beijing | 21.07.2005 | The International Road Transport Union (IRU), the Ministry of Communications (MOC) of the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese IRU Member Association, the China Road Transport Association (CRTA), are organizing the 3rd IRU Euro-Asian Road Transport Conference in the Beijing on 26-27 September 2005. The conference, which will address the theme “Road Transport: bridging Europe and Asia”, will feature joint sessions with a European and Asian Transport Ministers conference hosted at the same time by the MOC.

| IRU General Assembly: ABADA gets accreditation of IRU Academy; ASMAP President is the Honorary Member of the IRU | Upon the personal invitation of the Prime Minister of Moldova Mr. Vasile Tarlev, IRU General Assembly had its Meeting in Chisinau, Moldova, on 15 April 2005. As IRU President Paul Laeremans said, "Mr. Tarlev's invitation to the IRU reflects his government's concern to boost Moldova's economy by providing it with efficient international road transport links, [...] which is undoubtedly influenced by the professionalism of AITA, the IRU's [and BSEC-URTA's] Member Association in Moldova, and its President, Vladimir Florea, who is also President of the IRU's Liaison Committee to the CIS".
