40th BSEC-URTA General Assembly: BSEC-URTA Family is Growing

The 40th Meeting of the BSEC-URTA General Assembly was held in Thessaloniki on 6 October 2022 in a hybrid format with both physical and virtual participation of all its members.

Esteemed guests, IRU Secretary General Umberto De Pretto and BSEC Deputy Secretary General H.E. Amb. Dimitrios Rallis, the Project Coordinator of BSEC Organization, Mr. Sergii Kravchenko, the Advisor of the Secretary General of PABSEC, Mrs. Natia Gaprindashvili, the Director of Economic and Commercial Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hellenic Republic, Mr. Alexandros Alexiadis strengthened the General Assembly with their participation in accordance with the tradition of BSEC-URTA partnership with IRU and BSEC.

General Assembly thanked IRU Secretary General, Mr. Umberto De Pretto for the information provided on the work of IRU in regard digitalization of transport documents, eTIR, and eCMR being on the front line.

General Assembly took note of the information on activities of the BSEC-URTA Working Party on the Digitalization of transport documents and appreciated the good cooperation and coordination with the BSEC Organization and IRU for the facilitation of border crossing at main BSEC land and maritime routes.

Participants also took note of the information provided by the International Secretariat on the impact of the current regional crisis on the road transport sector in the BSEC region.

General Assembly approved the Activity Report on the BSEC-URTA priorities for 2022, the Working program, and the Budget for 2023.

The meeting was also marked by another significant moment for the BSEC-URTA family. In accordance with the decision of the 40th General Assembly, BSEC-URTA Membership status was granted to SMP and the Chamber of Bulgarian Road Hauliers (CBRH).

General Assembly welcomed “One Logistics Albania” Commercial Company and “Best Transit Service” Commercial Company from the Republic of North Macedonia into the family by granting Observer Status to the companies as of 1st January 2023.

In accordance with the BSEC-URTA statutes, the Vice and Deputy President of BSEC-URTA are elected. From Medjunarodni Transport(MT) Mr. Alexandar Spasic and OFAE, Mr. Apostolos Kenanidis is elected as the Vice-Presidents of BSEC-URTA for the term of office 2023-2024.

Upon proposal of the President of BSEC-URTA Mr. Eduart Kasa, re-elected Mrs. Olivera Miovska as Deputy President of BSEC-URTA for the term of office 2023-2024.

Upon the invitation of the President of GIRCA, Mr. Gia Tsipuria General Assembly decided to hold the next General Assembly of BSEC-URTA in spring 2023 in Georgia.
